The music of the Zither is sweeping the world. Young musicians in countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, even as far-flung as Japan, are playing the Zither. Awareness of the music of the Zither is growing in countries such as the US.

The Zitherist International Community and website will accelerate the spread of the music of the Zither. Key goals are to:

• build a critical mass of Zither musicians and composers internationally
• open up written knowledge about the Zither through translations
• focus on people who want to learn about the music of the Zither, potential students of the instrument, and experienced musicians
• support Zither musicians through services

What musicians and participants in the community can do include:

• seek information and get answers from the community
• interact with each other on topics of interest using discussion forums
• share experiences by submitting news items, articles, reviews, pictures, and recordings
• find other musicians, arrange performances, and cultivate audiences
