One goal of the zitherist.com website is to support a community of musicians. The site is designed to make it possible for musicians to share their knowledge and experiences with other musicians. For those users who make contributions the website needs to keep track of some individual preferences; of course, these preferences may be different for each person. A dynamic website like zitherist.com uses "cookies" to store such preferences in your browser's cookie cache.
When I log in my browser says I must configure it to accept cookies. What do I do?
Out-of-the-box, so to speak, most browsers are configured to accept cookies from all websites. Some people then configure their browsers to reject all cookies. Since so many websites these days use cookies, browsers made in the last few years have offered the option to permit cookies from certain websites. Since you received a message about accepting cookies, your browser is most certainly configured to reject all cookies. Each browser has a different way to configure how it handles cookies. Also, things may differ depending on whether you use a Mac or a PC. Here are a couple of guidelines to help you find the setting for your browser:
- Firefox: In Settings or Extras/Options find the tab for data protection. Within that page find the cookie section. Click on the Exceptions button. Add the zitherist.com as a permitted site.
- Safari (Mac): In Settings go to the tab for Security. Choose the option for accepting cookies only from sites you visit.
- Internet Explorer (Windows): Under Extras/Internet Options select the tab for Data Protection. On that page click on the button for Sites. Add zitherist.com as a permitted site.
